Noticed in TV Times that tonight at 7:30, there is the first of 5 programmes called 'The Allotment' (not to be confused with the other TV series and DVD of the same name). This one looks at life on a large site in Leeds. It seems to only be showing in the ITV Yorkshire region though.
If that's the case perhaps you could make a few copies and pass 'em round. ;D
Derek
perhaps several of us in that region can video it and pass it round?
i will...
while i remember-did anyone see 'the good life'?the 3 families who are supposedly living off the fruit and veg in their garden for a year.one couple i just feel will make it.-they have the right attitude(in the 1st programme anyway!).the large family from louth(near us) are willing but the kids aren't helping..and the third family ::)words fail me............
I'm sure I saw something about this prog kitty on a different thread
MM
just what i was thinking mm-i think it wasn't as well received as the allotment dvd..i remember people mentioning thelma.....anyway-i'll still vid it and we can pass it round.....
kitty I meant the good life prog not lottie one

If anyone doesn't live in the ITV Yorkshire area, but has Sky Digital, you can watch it anyway, you just have to add the ITV Yorkshire channel to your list.

Wow brilliant, thanks a lot for that!
As a yorkshire lass living in Leicester, i've really missed watching the local news from back home, now i've added it to sky and can watch to my hearts content yaaay! ;D
Cheers and welcome to the forum :)
You'll have to let us know what the programme was like!
Thanks - we've only had an allotment for 8 weeks; in Wimbledon. When we took it on, the brambles were head-high, but we've cleared the plot down, dug half of it into beds, put up a shed and greenhouse, built compost and manure bins from pallets, and built a raised seed bed.
We managed to get potatoes in, runner and french beans, courgettes, peppers, tomatoes, aubergines, cucumbers, onions, shallots, sweetcorn, strawberries, water melons (!!) okra, peas, pumpkins, herbs, leeks, carrots, parsnips, cabbages, lettuces etc etc. The greenhouse helped so much. It seems to be coming on well, but we'll just be happy if we get anything at all this year, seeing as the plot was so badly overgrown just at the start of this season!
weeeeeeeeeell......
it's not as interesting as the dvd we've all been takilng about but -if its got allotments in it,i'll watch it ;D......they've started in january i think-so its bound to get more interesting...anyway-i've videod it and the first person i shall send it to is merlinsmum...and she can send it to someone else and so on and so on.....'k?people will need to pm their addresses to the person whos got it..
eventually i'd like it back tho!
so-put yer names down for a look-whoever gets it can they make sure they view it and send it on speedily...then no-one gets missed out..
its a series so i'll keep taping if people want me to..
I thought January was a bad (but inevitable) place to start. It was good to see that Gavin was featured first with his grandson ;D
Yes I agree it did get off to a slow start but I bet it will be brilliant once they start planting. I am sure I will learn lots.... and if not i'll just listen to the accents yaaay! ;D
Kitty - you mentioned that new programme 'The Good Life' - yes I watched it.......agree with you that probably one couple (without the children) will make it - he seems totally dedicated to what's involved (mind & spirit)...his wife wants to be I think but is already beginning to 'weaken'.....
agree with your comments about the Louth family and like you - words fail me about the family from Wokingham (I believe - not far from me) again the wife is trying to 'make some effort' but with a husband like that!!....o.m.g. I'd be ashamed to admit he was anything to do with me!...

I was a bit disappointed with the allotment programme - it was very slow with few tips - and also there weren't many young people featured. The image of "old men in their shed" is just not the reality anymore in the area where we have our lottie!
I get BBC1 & 2 and BBC World...can't get ITV via the cable in Belgium. Sod,sod, sod.
We still have old blokes messing about in sheds here in Darbs my OH being one of them. I was watching an old chap on his plot today and his shed looks beautiful. It's covered in a white clematis montana :)

Trouble is they will not be able to find any value beer as it will all be behind my compost bin especially for the slug christmas party. I don't know what going on, every time I go past my lottie I here this song:
'Beer beer we want more beer, all the lads are cheering, get the...' I think I will leave it there. They are insatiable, but at least they like the cheap stuff ;D.
ron after you on that one mate
