I was out most of Saturday morning when I get a desparate phonecall from the OH....
"when you coming home I am starving!!" (42 and a chef...anyway ::)) so I said to him "why don't you put some fish fingers on and we can have fish finger sandwiches"

When I arrived home there he was making is own tartar sauce -
1tsb Mayo
good squeeze lemon juice
about 10 capers
1 large gherkin choped finely
...have to say I was sceptical as I only usually like colemans...well

2 slices of fresh white bread
a good slavering of tartar sauce
3 fish fingers

I have to say it would take a lot to top that..yumm yumm scrumb  ;D ;D

I love love love fish finger sandwiches. Has to be white processed bread (normally eat my own granary but this is a definite exception) and tartare sauce. Havent made my own yet but have nastursium 'capers' to try for the first time. Ooh cant wait to try it

One of 'Me Dad's' favourits was 'mock capers',  don't let them get too old or large or they are stringy.    :D     Cheers,     Tony.

Hi - yes my mum told me at christmas that my dad used to grow nastursiums in order to pickle them. As my dad died a while back I was really chuffed to follow his tradition without even knowing it ( I dont remember 'capers' at all!)

non-stick

mmm Fish Finger Sandwiches - has to be thick white crusty bread, butter and Heinz Ketchup to work fully but I can cope with other variants.

I made my own tartare sauce a few weeks ago following a similar "recipe" - worked out surprisingly well with home-made cod and chips!
