In keeping with tradition, my Sunflower seeds disappeared again. Should've remembered from last year: plant sunflower seeds twice - first, straight in the ground for Mr Blackbird and second, in pots until well germinated and safe.
This advice will now appear in the latest edition of my magazine: "The Hapless Gardener" (circulation:1)
Anyway, I sowed some more on Saturday morning (in pots). In the afternoon I was perusing my borders - I enjoy a good peruse - when I saw 20 baby sunflowers, which I know I didn't plant. From this I deduce two things:
1. Last year's sunflowers have self-seeded.
2. Blackbirds don't eat old stock!
