A few cutting back/deadheading questions
« on: July 28, 2013, 18:54:40 »
1. Can I cut violas back ("Jonny jump up") to get another flush of flowers?
2. Do all hardy geraniums respond to cutting back, or just some varieties?
3. I love the seedheads of Nigella but will I get more flowers if I deadhead them?
4.Is it ok to cut down the stems of bleeding heart (forgotten the proper name).

Thanks,

Caroline

1. yes...they will respond to it by making new growth and more flowers :icon_cheers:
2. yes...but not not all will flower again in same year...but all will send up some fresh leafy growth
3. umm...not sure..probably not if they've gone to seed
4. yep..they don't mind being hacked back and will resume growth next spring again
