what to grow for hens
« on: May 08, 2013, 15:26:31 »
I'm in the process of forking over an area where my 2 cluckers hang out. Its been a mix of patches of nettles and bare earth of reasonable quality. Could anyone suggest what I could sow there that the hens would enjoy eating.(I could put netting or similar over seeds to keep the girls off while things grew).

I would think that anything you were to grow for them would be decimated very quickly.

I used to grow swede or turnips for my chickens, hang one up after cutting a slice off the side and it will keep them busy for ages, you just end up with a shell left

Just one more polytunnel, just one more chicken coop.
Just one more allotment.
