Impressive indeed! :o
Well done!
I fancy a bash at this myself next year.... Can you tell me which seeds would be best to get?
Thanks in advance. :)
Nigel.

Amazing! A great pumpkin and fantastic carving! Brilliant!
(Like Nigel B I'd love to know where you got your seed from. I promised my grandsons a pumpkin over 70lb - (my personal best!) - and failed miserably!)
Told them I'd do better next year!

thanks everyone for the kind words its been a fun year all in all the seeds i grew this year where from donations from friends of mine ian and stuart paton brithish record holders and jos ghaye the belgian record holder and from the european giant veg growers association seed promo pack of which im a member .
you could try growing generic atlantic giant seed and maybe hope for 200lb but if you really want a challenge you have to have quality seed
as the saying goes you cant make a silk purse out of a pigs ear.
but more important even than the seed is soil prep get the soil right and give the plant the nutrients it needs and it will grow.
These plants like to grow and grow big my smallest patch is 400sq ft 20 ft by 20 ft this is for one plant my other patch is 1000 sq ft 25 by 40ft on this plant i squeeze in two plants
to start off the season i use a high N based fertilizer programme until first signs of flowering then i quit fert programme till a week after setting first fruit then i go on to low N and high P.K fertilizer for the rest of the plants season.
pumpkins dont suffer from many pests here in uk the main one is powdery mildew this usually hits later on in the season however i spray my plants throughout the growing season with nothing more than 1% low fat milk diluted in water at 10 to 1 mix i spray the leaves top and bottom weekly this might sound easy but on a 500 sq ft plant it takes time and effort.
oh well listen to me waffling on about how i grow my pumkins i could go on all day and bore you all to death just have a go but most of all keep it fun ATB mal
