I think it's a plant. It's on the TOMT & begins with L (probably). Aren't I a helpful bunny. If it's what I think it is it spreads.

How about
Veronica longifolia
? Close look at the individual flowers should tell if it's a veronica

I was told that a weed is a plant growing where it is not wanted and I am constantly digging out forget me nots, nasturtiums, violets and others from the vegetable beds.
My friend always waits until her weeds are identifiable before pulling them because she gets her 'god's gifts' of new plants this way. Moving them to a position she prefers them to be in as necessary.

We have it too, it's a weed if you don't want it there, but so are poppies, aquilegia, nigella and so on. We spent ages identifying it and I have promptly forgotten :-[

Looks like Linaria purpurea, purple toadflax. Selected forms like 'Canon Went' are garden flowers but the species is a bit weedy and spreads by seed. Fine if you have a wilder garden.

My mum gave me a piece of this from her garden last year when I got my plot, she recommended it as something that would grow well in the shade. No idea what its called, but it has really taken off and has just started flowering.
