I've got three packets out: lettuce (winter, type), cauli (ayr) and broccoli (summer).

But more importantly, we have to make loads of jam to empty the freezer and to clear the jamjars from the worktop in the utility room to make space for the seed potatoes which we'll be getting on 24th at Whitchurch.

Here's to 2009  :D :D :D :D

sorted out the seeds, got
mizuna
texas early grand onion
ailsa craig onion
cauli all year round
tomato tigerella
tomato golden sunrise
mustard and cress  ;D
verbena
little gem and parella red lettuce in a couple of days
these will all be on windowsills in windowsill propagators and only a couple/few of each, just to satisfy the sowing urge  ;D
will have to wait as the bag of potting compost in the garage is mostly frozen  ???

Just had a look though my box of seeds to see if theres any thing i can start sowing only thing i have is all year round cauli  :)

Prepare for a really daft question when they say sow indoors what exactly do they mean? Is it warm green house or shed or in the house????  :-[

I only have a small plastic green house and would think that would be far too cold!!

Is that laughter i can hear  :-* :-*

Mummybunny  -I take "indoors" as meaning in a greenhouse and it works for me.

I'm going to wait until this really cold spell passes before sowing anything though. They always seem to catch up as it warms up.

Nowt yet. I have learned from the more experienced gardeners on here. They don't rush their sowing and still they catch up.
When I get old I don't want people thinking
"What a sweet little old lady"........
                             I want em saying
"Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"

I don't think I will be starting anything else this week, as I have already planted tomatoes, leeks, ailsa craig onion, some other type of large onion and a few peppers.

We have recently dug up the leeks we started off nearly a year ago.

Whatever the germination temperature is and definitely frost free.

I would say absolute min of +5C degrees, although a cool 10C would be better.
15-20C would be too warm and make the seedlings leggy.

when they say sow indoors what exactly do they mean?

They mean a place where you can keep the temperature at a consistant level at least until germination takes place, and generally in the UK that is indoors.

You could do what I do and that is;

I get all my seed packets together and list them on a spread sheet then I use the alphabetical index on my home page and note when I should sow them and at what temperature.

There is more info here; http://www.thegardenersalmanac.co.uk/Data/Computers%20and%20gardening/Computers%20and%20gardening.htm

I hope this clarifies the sowing issue you have.....TG

Nothing yet, but might do a bit of packet sorting at the weekend to finalise the plans for the plots...or just end up drooling over the packets like a sad person! ;D
If it's not pouring with rain, I'm either in the garden or at the lottie! Probably still there in the rain as well TBH....🥴
