I don't really think I have any need to worry, but I have put the jacaranda in the poly as it does not like to go under 15

No we've not had a frost YET, but I don't think its far off from when we do.  :( :(

I hate this time of year, when you are clearing out the greenhouse of tomatoes, etc, and putting everything to bed for winter.

I don't think I particularly suffer from SAD, but I do get a bit 'down in the dumps' at this time of year.

It is sad to see the beds emptying, going to put the garlic and onions in soon.

Do you do anything in the glasshouse over winter?

Also winter containers and hanging baskets.

Planting bulbs and seed catalogues.

All that housework you neglected over the summer.

I have decided to decorate.Always like to do it in the winter. :)

Still around 13/14 here, but I notice the wind has gone around to the SW, this usually warms things up again but brings a lot of wet stuff with it.  Now I can see us having a manky Autumn with no really nice colour until November.

Not got lower than 5C here in Bucks. Mind you, the early morning dew feels ripe for freezing. Feels colder due to wind. I'm going to bring stuff in doors this weekend.

We're only about 20/25 miles away, and definitely not yet, but it's only a matter of time. :( :(

Well the frost is now getting settled in here in Dundee had it three times now in the last week the worst being this morning had to scrape the car window so its now on with the winter woollies and snuggle up to the wife at night for some extra heat.

yesterday - beautiful, as the mist lay over the ground frost as well and through the night the stars were amazing, such a clear sky - I adore Autumn - the next full moon is not far away, that should bring a few frosts to some  8)

now was it just me or was it really warm last night!  I had to open a few more windows to get the air moving through the house.  I did notice  in/out thermometer only dropped to 17.6c last night.

Now where's that frosty talk gone now.

Check out your car roof? But apparently I'm using the term wrongly  :-[

An air frost  actually means air temps below freezing, whereas ground frost means frozen at ground level only which can occur at around 4degC.

In our case the warmth of the ground prevented a ground frost but the low temp produced frost on objects that are a bit higher - in the air :)

so is it basically if the ground is free of frost but hedges and other higher items have frost then its air frost ???, (if the ? seem dumb, remember I'm from the west indies and the only frost i grew up with was in the freezer ;D)
