Track The Snow...
« on: March 17, 2007, 14:26:51 »
Anyone interested in letting A4A know where the snow is falling (when it arrives) and how bad it is.It might just help us plan a little bit in advance. ;) :)

Will let you all know too, but living by the sea, our chances greatly reduced.

We just get blown away instead ::)

happy to post if there is snow to forewarn the southern counties....assuming it doesnt start first thing - not a morning person ;D.

We usually dont get much being in a valley...but had 5inches in the last lot this year so might be on for some more if the conditions are right.

I'd Be happy to report snow - if it ever got here which i very much doubt. I think this up coming 'cold snap'and associated snow is over - hyped, media scare mongering. Ok it will be colder than of late and we'll get some sharp frosts no doubt, but i doubt it will be as bad as there trying to make out its going to be (, in the south at least).

Basicaly its the long overdue once a month cold snap, that  seems to have been the pattern this winter. it will last a few days then go mild again, so dont panic too much.

The thing that worries me most is that it does come after a very mild spell which has encouraged plants and wildlife into making an early spring start. I am concerned as to what a cold spell might do to both.

Yep, on our plot today, I saw so many bees, and a few wasps, but as the temperature started to drop, they were extremely slow and dopey, barely able to move by 5.30. Guessing they will die off and have to start all over again.

I am a little concerned about my purple beans, which I planted out la\st weekend. I got all over excited by the continuing good weather! GRRR! I have covered up with fleece, and added a small poly tunnel in the hopes they survive!

Blowing a right old gale here in Dorset, but its nice and sunny with it. I did have things i planned to do in the garden today, still might brave it later and get something done. It just depends on what it does next out there.

Sleet showers, along with some rather painful hail down here in Norfolk, but apart from the evil gusts of wind, nothing major YET.

We had the odd heavy snow shower but it didn't lie. Just typical March weather, nothing to write home about.
