This time last year we were shovelling snow several times a day and facing temperatures of -15°C or below, with snow on the ground right into May... but this year we've been outside in T-shirts, eating lunch in the garden, watching the bulbs coming up, with temperatures reaching +15°C (but still some frosty nights down to -5°C) - yesterday we had wild ducks on our pond (last year they didn't arrive until late April) and last week we had 11 herons flying over the field opposite our house.
With this mixed-up weather I'm really confused about what (or whether) to plant, since we have known frosts right into June in this part of Germany. I don't have a greenhouse, but it seems a shame to waste this weird weather, so I'm trying to work out and would like your advice:
What vegetables can I plant safely, without fear of killing them off if the winter returns? And which vegetables are definitely too sensitive to risk?
Are you facing similar "too early spring" in your part of the world?
Thanks!
