Just over 2 weeks to go, :o :o :o :o :o :o
Got 3 lessons left, so lets hope my brain doesn't fall out.
There is a day preparation class on the Saturday before, and think there is a mock then. Lets hope it prepares me for the 7th May.....

Good luck with the exam. I've a Welsh name but no Welsh connections - we will all be rooting for you (pun not intentional being all gardeners!)

Best of luck with the exam.
In answer to the query about Welsh v Irish gaelic. No, it's not the same. They're both Celtic languages with the same root, but Welsh isn't gaelic. The only other gaelic is Scottish, which is different again, although it originated with the Irish (who were really Scots) who took over the country from the 5th to the 9th century. There's also the complication that Pictish, which was spoken in eastern Scotland, may have have Celtic elements as well, which continued into Scots gaelic.
The roots of the words are the same but the main difference is in the spelling. Scots gaelic spelling is fairly comprehensible to an English speaker, but Irish gaelic spelling is impossible!

Rudd, that is correct. We had an exchange student some years ago from Brittany, and many of the words that they use are the same as Welsh.

my late grandmother was from the valleys, and she remembered when she was a girl the french onion sellers would come over - yes with bikes, strings of onions berets and all. They sold their onions in south wales - and they could all more or less understand each other.
My welsh doesn't get much past a bit of counting, days of the week and some valuable bad language! There is of course, the singing of welsh folk songs when over-merry, which is banned by husband, but puts crying babies to sleep in seconds!

Good luck Multiveg !! ;) ;)
I'm very proud of being welsh but ashamed to say I can't speak any (apart from the odd word or two)!! :-[
Didn't have the option of welsh lessons in school. I've always though about studing welsh at evening school, but now that I live in Cheltenham I guess I'd have quite a trek to find a class.
Good luck again, let us know how you get on :)
