I went to the bottom of the garden today & on the path was a birds egg. It is white, any idea which one it could be. Is it a bit early?

I'd say a pigeon. They breed when they feel like it.

Either pigeon or collared dove.
They seem to be so interbred it is sometimes difficult to work out.

Collared doves have been mating in my garden today. They have up to 5 clutches of eggs in a year starting in March. The eggs are white.
