Bargain Fruit Trees/Bushes - Which stores?
« on: March 17, 2007, 01:28:41 »
Realise I am a little too late this year - I am guessing they start to appear in stores around Late Jan/Feb time.
Just which stores do these or have I found them all?

Woolworths - various larger trees for 9.99 and smaller Raps etc 1.99 at the moment.

Wilkinsons - Various trees about 6.99 (pikced up 2 plum trees today but a ticket on the box said all trees £5.00 so got a couple of quid knocked off each)

Morrisons - Picked up a couple of gage trees for 4.99.

Aldi - ??? Heard talk these stock them but not seen any. As of yet.

Anywhere else such as instore, Netto, Aldi etc? Want to be ready next spring!!!  ;D
TIA

Lidl's is also great if you have got one near you,

Though you do have to be quick, missed out on all the good bargains this time. >:(
Smile at your enemies.

It makes them wonder what you are up to.

I bought my Stella cherry tree and Opal plum tree from Aldi. I happened to be there when the fruit trees went on sale so there were many varieties to pick from (all trees were 3.99). You do have to be quick, they sell out in a few days.
Both trees I bought are doing very well, I think they are good quality.

I bought my Golden Gage from Lidl and it's doing well too (again all trees were 3.99).

I bought raspberry and Gooseberry plants from Woolworth last year and returned them, as they had mould all over the plants and some weird mushrooms were growing in the compost!!! I bought an elder plants as well several years ago from Woolworth and it never grew. I think it was already dead when I bought it.
Woolworth never seems to have fresh plants (their plants sit in a very warm environment for ages unlike Lidl or Aldi) so I don't buy anything from them any more.

or fruit bushes from asda, I've been watching the same 'stick in a bag ' blackcurrant bush for 3 weeks now, goodness knows what it would be like if anyone bought it  :o :o  our aldi also still has some fruit trees don't think they would be in a very good state either..better look at their web sites and go when they're first in  ;D

Spooky,

See my thread: "Yip (99) peee!"

Also, I bought several fruit trees from Woolworths - pear, nectarine, plum, cherry; etc - last year and they're all doing fine. The nectarine's in full flower right now - which reminds me, must fleece it before the cold snap gets here!
