Printer
« on: November 08, 2006, 16:14:14 »
Mine methinks is on its last legs, so I need a new one, have started searching but the selection out there now is VAST!  :o
Any ideas anyone, it has to:-

Print my work pamphlets to a good standard
Print the odd photo,
Print the daughters "A" level work, a lot of which is art graphics related, to a high standard, so good accurate colour required
Print other daughters GCSE coursework
Cheap ink cartridges to replace
Easy to use
Maybe scan
CHEAP to buy, bought a house, now no money :'( :'(
do the washing up
and help with the digging! ;)

any ideas gratefully received

A confused searching Amazon Pinks ;D

I recently bought a Brother all in one Model DCP 115C which I find excellent for all my printing and scanning work RRP £ 113.00 from Staples It has seperate ink cartridges so you only replace the black or colours that you need to as opposed to 3 colours in one cartridge another plus fact is that the cartridges are not chipped ones so you can use any makers ink and not damage the print heads as opposed to someone like HP

Thanks Wassis, will look into it, it infuriates me that my Epson won't print in  black if the colour cartridge runs out, even if the black is full, whats that all about???

Hi Wassisname,

you can use any brand cartridges in HP printers, it just wont register how much ink you have left.

I had a canon inkjet for years & was happy with it, now have an HP inkjet and equally pleased.  Mine also get unplugged, put in the back of the car and driven up to Scotland a couple of times a month so compactness & weight were also a factor.  I've got the photosmart 8050 which PC world have on at clearance now pretty much half price from when I bought mine, under £50.
is it in the sale?

Froglets, each to his own, and yes you can use other brands in HP BUT as they are chipped they will eventually damage the print heads making the printer useless

Hi DP,
When you do a print after headcleaning is it showing red on print out?
could be a faulty set of inks.
Try this link as well its a self help plus it will run a check on printer.

http://self-help.epson.net/gcb/Logon-Page.jsp

I have a 830 photo which every so offten throws red lines across prints, but the old 680 is  a work horse and prints in black or colour. Moden ones the inks have to be full to print at all and they will ask for service after so many prints. More money for epson service centres, but as printers are getting cheaper its cheaper to get a new one than fix a old one.
OH has a CX3200 he loves it all singing and dancing big machine.
