Watch out - they're about!!
« on: July 15, 2006, 17:48:16 »
Lucky that I went out for a second watering - the whites are here with a vengeance.

We had only seen 8 until now - but there were 5 under the netting!! At least you can spot them under mesh.

Sloppy joe, that's me - not tightly pegged down. Although I have to say that they will wriggle through the closest overlap if they really want to. So that's 5 less.

They're all over the place om my site. I don't worry too much; they never do as much harm as the slugs anyway.

Got the bu**ers as well Tim , people must think I am going loopy when they see me running around trying to knock em down with my sun hat.

Any chance of getting your spitfire out Tim.

Unfortunately we got them here as well, they are getting through my netting but I can't see where. I guess its Caterpillar patrol for a while then.

I potted up a load of cabbages today, (not enough space on the plot to plant them out yet!) and blow me down 3 mins later there was one inspecting them! >:( :o

I'm sort-of glad it's not just me... I've got mine pegged to an inch of its life and there were still some trapped inside earlier today! Argh! How do they get in????

Now going to have to watch my PSB and sutumn cabbs very carefully...

As said last year, they will slide in flatways across a foot of mesh overlap!!

May be wishful thinking, but all the whites are concentrating on the plants under the coarser mesh - none on the finer.

Is this the better smell or sight?

Later - another thought - I always leave several plants uncovered as bait.

Do they go for those? Do they hell!!
