Plants for a wet area
« on: March 16, 2012, 12:25:01 »
We have a very wet area and are looking for ideas for palnting, preferably plants that will soak up the water. I know about willow , but there must be lots of others - it is a very wet area so very thirsty plants are needed!
Ideas please ;)

Try a load of day lillies, they love wet areas, plus every part is edible, your salads will really be brightened up with a few colourful flowers tossed in. You can get different varieties for continuation of flower.

What about a lovely Cornus contraversa alternifolia (probably spelt wrong ) commonly known as the Wedding Cake tree. Or a Gunnera for a jungley look .
Trespassers will be composted !
