Hi Carol,

These are from a cactus species called ECHINOPSIS.

the cacti aren't always pretty, but the flowers definately make up for it.

Carol, how do you treat your cactus to get flowers like that?
I had a flower on one last year, it was a plant tucked away at the back of a group that I had forgotten about, but I don't know why it flowered.

We just water them!!!  These flowers are dead today, only last up to 48hrs. They are quite beautiful when they do appear though.  Not fond of cactus really, its OH who likes them!!!

Sorry about the size of the pic.  I did reduce it in photobucket but my pics are not being downsized, must be doing someat wrong.

Lots of water in the growing seasn, dry in winter. Plenty of sun, but if they're in a greenhouse they may well want a bit of shading.
