Doris, that is a beautiful tree.  Our local Sainsburys has similar trees in the car park and at this time of year it is a pleasure to go there!

it looks like a sycamore from first glance lorna, not a big tree person but i think it is.

you may think thye look good, but you havnt tried picking thousands of leaves up then the next day its the same as the day before!

That's a bonus Adam - leaf mould and despite my not liking them because they are not native (yes I am that picky about flora and fauna) they make excellent leaf mould as they do not take too long to rot down.

Fab pic  DP  I have 8 sycamores in my garden and wish they did look like that  :o  I think that they look more like Maples or could it be Liquidamber  ??? I am sure someone will know.
