Pruning Fruit bushes
« on: December 08, 2008, 20:07:10 »
I'm a newbie to fruit growing and  this may seem a daft question, but I have not pruned my gooseberry or blackcurrant bushes is it too late? They were planted at the beginning of this year so we had a small crop off them in the summer but not sure wether to prune or not. :-\
Thanks

Hello, and welcome, although it says you are a quarter acre...
If you only planted it last year I'd not bother pruning, except to remove any obviously growing the wrong way, into the centre of the bush or down to the ground,  while it gets to the size and shape you want.  :-\

Thanks for you help Saddad, I'll leave them for this year as they all seem fine and a good shape.
