Cuttings
« on: July 19, 2008, 10:25:31 »
Re Geranium/Pelargonium and Fuchsia cuttings. I have bought several new plants this year and want to take cuttings. Can I take cuttings now? Do I use rooting powder? Keep them in the greenhouse or if we ever get any summer will it be too hot for them? If possible I want to avoid heating the greenhouse this winter  how should I protect them in the winter? I could keep them in the bungalow during the winter. Help please.

Yes to both questions and the remainder of my advice is under the respective titles on my website.

F= Fuchsia
P=Pelargoniums (Geraniums as they were)

They're both easy to do, but pelargoniums over-winter better (well, here they do!).

We normally take cuttings when we take the troughs & tubs apart in October, but they can be done any time now. It just fits our routine - troughs down, tomatoes out, staging in; summer becomes winter.

Many thanks folk. Mary I did look yesterday and  I reckon couple more days and I will be able to post you some Lupin seeds. There are plenty of seed pods on the plant (my avatar) so will send you a few and hope you have luck.
