chilli plant flowering now OUTSIDE!
« on: September 26, 2007, 20:11:18 »
I was given a very small chilli plant from a fellow allotmenteer, not sure of the variety. This was early august and the plant must have been still very young at that point as it was only at the 5/6 leaf stage. I stuck it in a flower pot and left it outside as I didn't really have any proper chilli-growing space left. In the sun a few weeks ago it really started to grow and it is now flowering! It looks really healthy andhas plenty of open flowers. With the frosts likely I have brought it inside and hand pollinated the flowers. I can't believe how late the plant is still looking healthy! It's definately a dwarf variety. here's hoping it stays alive and I get (even more) chillies!

Could be a 'windowsill' chilli, such as Prairie Fire or Aurora. Small, highly ornamental and HOT! If treated well, they can flower and fruit till Christmas - and beyond!

Many of my outdoor chillies are still producing new flowers - they're not windowsill varieties.

If only the fruit they've already produced would ripen!
