Frog Death (maybe)
« on: March 14, 2007, 20:41:15 »
Checked my pond this afternoon, loads of pairs of frogs, one female looks like its going to die though, she had one male on her back and one on her belly, they were vertical in the pond, the last time this happend a couple of years ago there were 3 males on female they squashed her to death, looks like it could happen again

I had three like that for several days and felt quite sorry for the one in the middle.
One fellow allomenteer suggested that if you lift them out in a net and put them on the ground they will disentangle themselves and if one has been 'squashed ' to death it will obviously not hop off. But done in time, it might save the one in the middle.

You can catch them and prise the extra one off with your fingers. It s difficult and horrible to do as they kick so much but it can be done. I ve pulled frogs off toads like this before.
