Hi Kenkew - Adaware and Spybot Search and Destroy would have done the job in 15 minutes?  :o  And got rid of a lot of the hidden gubbins you've also been dumped with?

Worth a go now - it's fiendishly hard to find all the relevant bits and pieces manually.

All best - Gavin

Am I right in saying these are free/shareware progs? My suspicion is that even these might be 'spyware progs? Am I being too suspicious?

Hi Kenkew - I'm at least as nervous as you are about freeware and shareware.

But these two do come highly recommended.  A lot of UK university sites use them.

Also, (if you're up to it, they're pretty heavy stuff!) there's a fascinating and angry bunch of articles here http://www.staff.uiuc.edu/~ehowes/ftc-comments.htm, http://www.staff.uiuc.edu/~ehowes/dbd-anatomy.htm - and there's a lot more around this site.

I've had no problems with either in the couple of years I've used them - and they've effectively cleaned my kids' computers.

All best, Gavin
