Cauli flowers
« on: November 05, 2006, 16:52:50 »
Two experiments for us this year, Graffiti (purple) and a bright green one, nearly ready :D

It's the first time we've grown caulis, so well chuffed :)

Lovely! I think that the green one will be the most pleasing. You will have seen how Graffiti goes various unattractive shades of blue? Even with lemon juice to acidify the water.

They look wonderful. I've got cauli's to go in next year and hope I get something like that. Did you cover to stop pests??

thank you for your kind comments all :)
they are lazy caulis - planted as plugs straight thru black plastic on the new (undug) plot as a clearing crop. I did cover with mesh up to a month ago rosy, when they bust out, whipped it off and inhaled a ton of whitefly, but the whitefly don't seem to have hurt them ::)

Awww they look lovely!

I just cut my one and only romanesco - I planted 10 but only 1 survived the flea beetles!

Now a really dumb question... will another head grow or shall i take the plant out now?  For some reason i thought they grew back LOL
