Bettany Hughes - Helen of Troy

Lovely girl - & clever. No problem watching her for 2 hours!

But did you see her in the market last night? Fingering saffron from a huge pile of the stuff? Worth it's weight in gold - & within easy reach of a quick snatch?

Did anyone else suspect that it was the very cheap & much larger safflower?

so you think she's yummy? she certainly is ;D
that market looked amazing - what did you say the difference was between saffron and safflower? i thought saffron was the male stem part of the flower only?

One is v. expensive & tastes & smells divine. The other is coarse like grass seed & has no flavour.
