Title: Its great to get out

As one or two of you know some kind person stole my car last weekend, for the first time since this setback l have made it up to my lottie today to do a bit of digging. Just to let you know its great to be back in the groove again.

Post by: Palustris on February 08, 2004, 19:02:28: Feel virtuous after doing a bit of digging. Lovely sensation. Too cold and windy to do much here, could hardly stan up till mid afternoon. Potted up a few plant divisions and found the Fritillaries have begun to grow so moved them into the Alpine House. Joy

Post by: Gardengirl on February 08, 2004, 20:20:13: Talking of Fritillarias Eric - do I take it you grow these in pots? I have tried growing them in the garden in various places but none seem to come up - it's as if they just rot away. Am I doing something wrong do you think ???

Post by: Muddy_Boots on February 08, 2004, 21:05:33: Being presumptious, as one is from time to time, are you talking about snake's head? I planted bulbs in my garden and had no probs. Were fairly sheltered and tree quite near, well drained loam and thrived, multiplying each year. Just lucky, I guess!

Post by: Mrs Ava on February 09, 2004, 15:00:20: Pah, snakes heads are one of my most fave flowers, and I can't grow them in my garden. Lost count of how much money I have spent and how many attempts I have had. I have decided my garden is toooo wet and clay-ee, so if I get anymore bulbs, I shall grow them in pots.

Post by: Granny_Smith on February 10, 2004, 12:24:07: I got some packs on an offer last autumn (BOGOF) from the garden centre and dotted/planted them in the garden. Have just noticed that they are all coming up. I must have been lucky. Fingers crossed that they survive !

I planted my snakesheads last autumn and they popped up almost immediately. They are still growing - very leafy, no sign of flowers yet, but I suspect it's too early. They are in a pot.
