Hi Maz,
Yes a form of Oxalis,
I have Oxalis Deppei which is classed as the lucky clover ( still waiting for luck)

But this one in pic is just roots no bulb? very strange but so pretty.

Neighbroughs have not got it so its come via the birds most likely starlings they bring some great plants in their poo. I call it pelleted seeds but they drop them anywhere ha ha.

The photo is of one on the drive facing south full sun and growing in sand. So realy hardy a real surviver.

If you want my advice, get it out as soon as possible!!!!  Invasive doesn't describe this little but deceptively evil plant.  It doesn't just self seed, it literally hurls it seeds about the garden through a spring mechanism, and if you don't pull up every single bit, it will keep coming.  I've been plagued by this for years. Sorry....! Lottie  :'( :'( :'(

thanks for letting us know - i did notice the roots were quite extensive, and clinging desperately to the soil, when trying to pull it out.
the seeding 'spring' techinique sounds scary - the flowers look pretty but will remove the stuff as soon as.

thanks
svea

Hi,
Dissapointed me no its just so pretty, this one is in the wrong place.
Just have not found out its name yet.
I have cornflowers that pop up everywhere and wild and garden foxgloves not to mention the welsh poppies so I would not class them as a weed just need the right places for them to grow.
I like my cottage garden idea its just the plants have other ideas oh well thats gardening.

Hee I know the old saying is a weed is a plant in the wrong place.
Well if something seeds itself freely we class it as a weed but the plants that dont seed freely we seem to treasure.
Yes this is a beautiful plants and survives on bone dry soil where grass and weeds dont grow so is it a weed? or a plant to treasure I like the latter.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder or so they say and I do love this plant just dont know the name of it still?

Ok, Here it goes, name is Oxalis corymbosa, got the name from my WEED(!) gallery in old Percy Thrower book! Of course it is entirely personal pref as to wether you keep it or not, but if you do decide to keep it, love it alot cos it will end up in every pot, basket or spare piece of ground you possess!!!  Anyway, good luck  Lottie   ;D ;D ;D

Well found the Corymbosa pic is green leaf with yellow markings but
Oxalis corniculata f. rubrifolia is the red leaf looks more like mine.
Some one in europe got the seed from Japan well they only had to come to my garden hee hee.
Will keep trying thanks all for the help.
