I know its early to think about those cold winter months... :(

But.... I have already started to plan what I want to grow over the Winter.

So far:

Giant Winter Spinach
Brussels Sprouts
Savoy Cabbages
Black Kale
Carlingford New Potatoes
Senshyu Japanese Onions
Rosette Pak Choi
Sprouting
Cardoon (Oct/Nov)
Broccoli Raab

Any more ideas????

Sound good WSL. I have kept my winter planting fairly minimal, until I figure out what I am doing. Will still be doing some tundra cabbage, brussells, purple sprouting, leeks, parsnips, celeriac, carrots (hopefully) and cauliflower  :)
I hope to have some spuds in storage, and plenty of pumpkins, onions, garlic. Also going to freeze french beans, and sweetcorn.

i picked up some mooli at the weeekend. they're big white radishes, plant june/july, crop through winter.

 I have a recipe somewhere for malai kofta using mooli - grate it with onion, garlic and spices and fry, then cover in spicy tomato sauce.mmmm

Hi Westsussexlotie,
                               Garlic, single cloves planted 6" apart 2" deep and 18" between rows, usually available from good garden shops in September.

Plant out early October and harvest June/July depending on weather and location.

I've got some mooli seeds from a German lotty chap.  Will get them in now I have a recipe.  thank FL  ;D   They'll go nicely with the spinach I got from an Indian plotty :)

With careful planning (well, not really, more luck rather than judgement!) and cloches and fleece, I was harvesting similar crops throughout the winter as I did during the summer months!  On our site, I have one of the few plots that is very productive for 12 months, and that isn't just winter greens.  Lettuce and other salad crops, roots and shoots.  And there are the things that stay in the ground to dig as and when, like the 'snips, beets, carrots and celeriac.
