Title: Ingenius names for the fish
Post by: Anthony on April 14, 2005, 09:23:00
Just thought it would be a bit of fun to see if anyone actually had names for their fish.

I currently have approx 20 fish of which less than half we have names for.  At first almost every fish had a name but due to the very high mortality rate we eventually gave up naming every one.

At present we have a "Spike" who's a yellow goldfish named by my nephew. "Fatty" a very greedy Koi who seems to eat more food than the rest put together. "Mackeral" who is a large Golden Orfe who was named by my brother-in-law, apparently the name is a reference to the fact that he (The fish) will eat anything and everything! "Frodo, Sam, Pippin & Merry" are 4 smaller golden Orfes named after the hobbits in the Lord of The Rings by my stepson Aaron and finally our latest addition to the pond; "Stinky" the Sturgeon named by the Mrs because she thought it sounded good.

Hi Anthony

We have a big Koi pond, and naming them all would be a nightmare - however I do have Robin.  He looks like he is wearing a black mask over his stunning orange and silver face.

You are right though, Koi are greedy, greedy fish.  In their fight for the sticks, they will actually hand feed sometimes.

I donated a koi to my local hospital a couple of years back,it was called "goldberg".
