Sorry to hear it Johnny!

Been there, had an operation  (injection in my spine) been OK ever since.

Know what you mean about getting other people to do your chores it can be as worrying (painful) as having the bad back!

With the best will in the world people never seem to do it just as you would.

I went down the plot to check on stuff in the coldframe etc and got nothing done, too busy answering peoples questions and helping them out.

This is why I stopped going to the plots at the weekend and on holidays!

Sorry to read about this Johnny and yes, I remember this is why you always use a smaller fork.  So sorry it has flared up big time just when you needed it least.  All the best at the docs tomorrow and hope they can give you something to hit the pain on the head.  Best wishes for good recovery to both your good lady and you.

Sorry to read your news Johnny, I can only imagine how bad it must be for you to be in your bed, more so with your wife recovering and the busy growing season.

Hope it can be brought under control quickly and you are as painfree as possible.

Thinking of you

Sounds like you need a scan and/or X-ray to determine if you have slipped discs or something else.   If it's discs, I have 3 naughty ones in my lumbar spine fixed, like Tee Gee's, with epidural infiltrations of cortisone.   Two more in my cervical spine fixed by a cage to hold everything in place.   Both working fine as long as I don't overdo things.

Good luck.  I hope you get a fix.  Not good to be taking high doses of meds every day.

My suggestion goes in another direction.  I agree with Obelixx, that's a lot of medication and quite strong stuff too.  Is there anything that a chiropracter or physio could do for you?  After all they are specialists in bones and the bits inbetween.  Of course I would be wasting my time saying 'take it easy and allow yourself time to heal', when you are busting to go again.  So just my best wishes and hope you will get back to normal in double quick time Johhny

Sorry to hear about your spinal pain, Johhnyco and pleased to hear that the pain is less now your meds have been changed.

I expect you have had spinal X-rays over the past ten years.

I was diagnosed with spondylolisthesis, scoliosis and extensive degenerative changes to my spine 20 years ago.  The only thing the Consultant was able to do for me was to give me lumbar facet Joint injections but they didn't work.  I was discharged from the Outpatients Clinic and told that there was nothing else that could be done for me and that I could help myself by losing some weight. I was put on Tramadol which seems to work for me even now.  I was told not to go to a chiropractor as further damage could be caused.

Just take it easy when you go to the plot.  I always have a chair handy when I am gardening and I take plenty of rests.  I hope you will soon be back to normal.

thanks all yes over the past years had MRI scans and the like had  bone scans due another in the next 12weeks  its my whole spine cervical thoracic and lumber its the thoracic that's the major concern  as its the most difficult to operate on im due for cageing of the cervical and lumber  however the cervical is not compressing  nerves on mri however have all symptoms so a bone scan is required which will determin when i get the surgery and what part first they put it down to heavy work and long hrs i feel a lot better at the mo but it really has changed my life at 52 ive the spine of a 80 year old  and yes tramadol does help as does naproxen but that has torn my stomach lining so have to take a drug for that i was lucky i have a decent pension so at least money is not so much of a worry but again thanks for all the support and kind words from you all at what was a difficult time however its back to bean planting tomorrow however slow it might be to put them in

Do you have a lot of wear and tear in your spine or scoliosis, Johnnyco?  It sounds serious indeed.  Are they thinking of fusing vertebrae?  Or putting in some sort of titanium 'scaffolding' to help your own vertebrae with the load.  Either way a big op ahead.  How you manage to stay so cheerful living with this chronic pain and still do so much, is beyond me.  Hat off to you - respect!   :sunny:

Hope you won't have to live like this for much longer and get your op soon.  And in the meantime, I hope you will manage to keep going without another set-back like the recent one
