There seems to be a lot of queries about the little black beetles that are inside the sweet pea flowers, these are pollen beetles that come from the oil seed rape. They do not bite or harm the flowers, we also get a lot of them on daffodil flowers. If you show the flowers the judges will in most cases ignore because they could have come from any blooms within the show. I find the best thing to do is have the flowers in water, in a shed with a window over night when most of the beetles will leave the flowers. They do hinder if you want to save seed but other than that do no harm.
