great minds Tee Gee my broad beans are covered by environmesh as I grew them in modules and planted them out when they chitted . I had a look yesterday and a fox has left a great big poo on the netting! but a least the magpies and crows have not pulled them up.

I've planted out some broad beans I bought, the ones I sowed in modules outside are barely moving. I won't sow runner and French beans for a couple of weeks yet. It's just too cold and our site has a wind blow straight down it that shreds bean plants until May is going through.

Took the fleece of this morning and found that the second and third row are broken and flattened by the weight of the snow and the flapping of the soaking fleece.

Will have to sow some replacements tomorrow.

Welcome to the season of 2016!

For the first time ever all my autumn sown broad beans came up and are now a couple of foot tall, covered in flowers!

My pole beans, however, were only sown in their modules today!
