Title: Tomato Blight. Quick and Ruthless!
Post by: Garden Manager on August 31, 2015, 18:48:56
48 hrs ago all seemed fine with my outdoor tomatoes. Ripening nicely and expecting a glut. Then yesterday 3 plants were struck down and removed. Thought that was it and the others would be safe. Today on inspection nearly all the other outdoor plants (about 80%) were affected to some extent. 4 more plants binned as they were beyond help (fruit saved), ther rest have been stripped of foliage to try and save the fruit.

Disapointing but not unexpected given the recent weather. Undercover plants fine thank goodness!

So frustrating. But unripe fruit have an even more frustrating habit of getting the blight before they ripen.

I have a nasty idea that my lovely crop of tomatoes will not be far behind.
