Title: Squirrels
Post by: caroline7758 on April 02, 2015, 17:05:49
My son has been sowing/planting up his tiny London garden for the first time and was rather disheartened to find squirrels had dug up some of the plants within a couple of hours. He then found nuts in the soil so they must have buried them and been digging them up. Does anyone have tips for deterring squirrels?

Don't suppose the preferred remedy is safe in the Metropolis, there's too many bunny-huggers!
Next suggestion is to learn the distinctive "clack-clack" distress note, and imitate . This is the sound they make when threatened by cats etc, and a practised rendering distracts them and they move away. There is no permitted trap or poison sanctioned for amateur use. Its one more alien species that have established a cushy living in our  forests, parks and gardens to the detriment of our native Red squirrel, which is only found in a few more remote locations:Breckland Norfolk, Isle of Wight, Brownsea Island in Poole harbour .
