Title: When and how to prune red currents?
Post by: RenishawPhil on July 09, 2012, 12:54:45
I am wondering how and when to prune red currents, various websites give conflicting advice

I have now picked all the red currents and they have done a good crop.

If anyone can advise would be appreciated

I prune mine after leaf fall, usually sometime in winter. You can see what you are doing then.

They need to be pruned to main branches with spurs (like apples and gooseberries) to get the highest yields.

Nice to hear you had a good crop this year. Redcurrants are reliable, delicious stalwarts. :)
