Title: Freezing peas
Post by: mormor on July 02, 2012, 18:33:36
Freezing peas?  Has anyone frozen peas without blanching and was it a success?  I have read my way through pros and cons - would like a personal view!

Yep, I've frozen them without blanching and kept them for up to 3 months no problem. I wouldn't know if they last longer than that as I've always eaten them by then.

I just shell and put into plastic bag and into the freezer.   I do drop them into fast boiling water when cooking them.

It's not too late Debs but with later crops you run a much higher risk of them being affected by pea moth (little maggots in your peas)

Thanks for your comments.  I have now frozen peas without blanching and am confident that they will be fine.
