Title: Old Fertiliser still usable?
Post by: tricia on March 14, 2012, 10:53:38
I've found an old bag of German 'Blaukorn' (NPK 15-5-20) in the back of my shed - would it still be of any use to spread under my two year old pyrancantha hedge? It must be at least 5 years old!

I'm no expert, but I cant see the harm, when you open it up look for mould spores, if you find them, I would dump it or it could infect whatever you put it on, and give it a sniff, if it smells fine then it probably is...

I used to use tonnes of the stuff back in the 80s.
Might have lost some of its strength, but shouldn't be a problem.
Try a small patch, water in well and wait a week, if no problems...carry on!!
