I thought it was about time I took up the reins as shirlton. I have been keeping you company but as Pansy Potter.
Tony and I were getting some hassle from outside which spilled over on to here which made us feel very insecure. We have since left our old allotment and have taken up full residence at Walsall Rd. with our very good friend Betty.
The problem is now in the hands of someone who has the wherewithall to deal with it.
I would like to thank the moderators for making this forum a safe place to visit. Without them I would never have had the courage to come back as myself

I hope that you and 'Ower Tone' have many happy years of gardening alongside Betty and Co. and that karma is visited upon those who deserve a taste of their own medicine.
Us mods will carry on doing our best to keep A4A as it should be - there's loads of us now dontcha know. Be afraid, be very afraid ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

That Pansy Potter seemed a game old bird. I think I prefered her to the other one, she can be a bit of a vinegar drawers sometimes ;D

Missed you both. Glad you were here though - incognito. Was a bit worried about you. Sorry you had some rubbish to deal with and hope it is over for good. Christmas wrapped the painted glass pictures for my children's stockings a few days ago and sent a few thoughts in your direction - it obviously worked ;D

Thankyou all so much for the lovely welcome back to me old self. Pansy Potter was ok but it wasn't the real me. For a start I couldn't give ower Tone a mention and I couldn't have a bit of light hearted banter with the jesters of A4A.
Lets just hope that everything is good and sorted in the new year.

Oh Good! 8) Welcome back me lovely, and just in time for Christmas, too :-* and now you can tell us about the state of your sprouts, the perfection of your parsnips, the richness of your roasties - oh! and while you're at it, p'raps you could post your recipe for Perfect Stuffing Mix? Make the quantitiy large enough so that we can all take a handful - reckon we all know where we'd like to put it :o ;D

Welcome back Shirl! Pleased you got all that sorted.
Allotments can create odd situations - one of the old fellas on our site, who has been there for donkey's, has up and left. Pulled down his makeshift greenhouse and rotovated the whole job lot. Seems he had "words" with other allotmenteers and said that enough was enough. His trouble was...well, he liked a wee drop with some of the other lads down there but the wee drop was often quite a large one and he did tend to get a bit over the top. There are a number of people there who don't approve of drinking so their attitude is "good riddance", but I shall miss him. He gave me apples this year and told me where the wild apple trees were hiding. He introduced me to his (huge) German Shepherd dog. He laughed at my methods but later told me I had wonderful onions and I was the only one to do decent garlic, and would give me some of his huge winter leeks when mine were gone.
We did have a few trouble makers one year (breaking rules, being rude to others) but they realised they were outnumbered so got up and left when the silent majority made it clear that they were no longer welcome.
It's a funny old world...
