Title: sweetpeas
Post by: bcbeans on August 04, 2011, 00:13:07
Hi,
It's been a while since I've visited the site. Can anyone give me some hints as to why my sweet peas aren't flowering.
I have them in a big pot. They're about 4 feet high, very green and leafy, but no bloomin' flowers.
Thanks, in anticipation.

Be happy... mine are nearly over... if they are healthy traditional varieties start flowering at about 5' so any time this next week...   :)

I've never grown them in pots and 'have picked dozenzs of bunches this year.
I see this morning that the ones in the garden have collapsed under the weight of the rain  :(

Mine often flower after rain becuase they are very thirsty.
So i would make sure to keep them well watered.
Fingers crossed youve got some budding after the rain today.

Oh - thanks all. Stressing them is not a problem...do a lot of that with my plants. I took a measuring tape out and measured the plants. Yep - they're almost at 5', and as I look I see the beginnings of some flowers. I guess I just have to be patient. We've had an unusually tepid summer around here.
Thanks again.
