Title: Something wrong with Brussels ?
Post by: fitzsie on June 27, 2011, 19:30:52
My brussels are looking good and seem to be growing nicely, however this evening I've noticed these white patches on the lower leaves. The upper leaves are large and look healthy. Should I be worried ?

Hoepfully someone can be a bit more specific

Blast !! I think you are right. Just been out to them (in the fading light!) and had another good look at them and it does look like Leaf Miner. Had a quick look at some web pages and one says to just remove the areas of damage and another (wikipedia) recommend using Spinosad. Has anyone else had experience of this and how did they remedy it. Will the brussels still grow?

Yes the Brussels will still grow...
Unlike Pigeons which will strip all the leaves... Miners do not want to destroy the host plant... the plants will soon recover if you remove a few leaves....  :)

Remove all the dead leaves  sprouts are very hardy  put them in plastic bin bag and get rid of them ;D
