Just to add, I have just placed an order and they had all the ones I wanted in stock, it took a while to get through (I used ringback) and the lady sounded a bit stressed so I'm guessing there are quite a few past customers ringing today!  ;D

Anyone else tempted? ???

At £5 per tree these work out not much more expensive than the Lidl bare rooted ones!

Got my trees this afternoon, that was quick!

Just unpacked them, I ordered 18 in total, two each of three different cherries, and 6 apples. They are in polythene pots, all about 4' high, most like feathered maidens, some a bit more branched. all look healthy, so guess I will be busy planting up this weekend!

Warning: they all have quite a bit of straw around them (saved mine to use on the lottie), so don't try and open them in your front room like I did........had to hoover up ! :-\

I felt I was splashing out on three trees!  ;D

I ordered mine today - damson blue violet, Victoria plum and the cooking apple Arthur Turner (I feel rather formal addressing an apple as Arthur Turner)

Then I took the afternoon off in lieue of overtime and cleared enough room on the uncultivated part of my plot for them!

Good top Deb P!

Spent all day at the lottie, planting up the trees to form a fruit walkway......I used the double crossed formation again and pruned the trees as cordons......what do you think? I need a lie down now, my arms are killing me from knocking the posts in! ;D

Look at this site, at the reviews, before you send your hard earned money to this company

There is also a Debbie Bowers... coincidence, or what?

Hmmmm, had I seen those 'reviews' I probably would have thought twice about sending off for some plants as well. However, I had already dealt with the company before and received good trees and service, and this was a very good offer which I was happy to share with the forum members so they could take advantage of it as well.

If you were an established member of this forum you would know that I am equally happy to warn members and complain on the forum about companies that I have not had such happy dealings with as I am to recommend those that I have had good service from. I find it interesting you use your second ever post to pick up this relatively old thread  to suggest I have a hidden agenda here..... are you from a rival company perhaps?

...and yes, it is a coincidence there is a Debbie Bowers working at the company, it plainly isn't me!

Oh, and my fruit walk is coming along splendidly by the way..... ;D

6 unhappy customers in 1 year of trading (including one who went to the business premises and complained they were shut) isn't really much indication of how good the trader really is.

I hope you aren't insinuating that Deb P is in some way associated with this nursery and using the forum to promote it.  Deb P is a long-standing and valued member here and I can say with 100% certainty that she has no connection with the company other than as a satisfied customer.

If you stick around you'll see that members often pass on information on good deals, bad deals, good service and bad service.

So how about you introduce yourself and explain why you are unhappy with Bowers?

Oh gosh no, not at all, sorry Deb P. I wish I could edit the post as it was ambiguous in the last line. If anyone knows how to change the last line then please let me know  :-[

yes I sent money for plants, one lot of mushy and very poor plants arrived and the second lot haven`t appeared after several months. I am now in process of trying, so far unsuccessfully, to get my money back. The two people who do eventually reply to e mails are very very rude. I wish I had seen the online reviews before ordering.

I am a long standing lurker on allotments4all, enjoying the site a lot

It is always useful to hear about experiences with plant companies, both good and bad. As I pointed out in my second post on this thread, I suspect they do not have a huge number of people running the business, the lady who took my order was definitely a bit stressed! However, in my case (and I have ordered raspberry canes from them before) I have personally had two satisfactory shopping experiences with them.

In your case though, I think I would write a letter detailing your complaint and stating what your expectation of a satisfactory outcome is, i.e. either replace the plants at an appropriate timing to plant them, or refund you, or else consider else going down the small claims route which can be done on line and it very easy to do now. I would also mention you have posted about you situation on this site and will be posting what their response is: I know this doesn't seem like much of a threat, but I was surprised when I said this to one company I had a dispute with about an order and they accused me of threatening them! But they then refunded my money as a 'goodwill gesture'! Negative publicity can be very powerful.....l!

One of the main problems with purchasing plants online is the timings; if the plants do not arrive in time you lose the opportunity to plant or sow at the right time and that sometimes cannot be regained. It may be that the company intend to send you plants at the correct planting time this year, ie winter if they were bare rooted: but they need to comminicate with you if that is the case. Let us know how you get on.

If you do this, it needs to be absolutely factual and not stray into libel territory that might cause problems for Dan or the site.
