Title: Fennel seed for cooking...which Fennel?
Post by: Hector on June 05, 2011, 22:31:38
|I can't figure out which Fennel it is I can harvest seeds for cooking from? Is it the common or Florence one? If its Florence is it a choice of bulb or seed production?
Thanks :)
Jackie

I expect both of them are fine, but the common leafy one is easier to grow and goes to seed without fail -and it makes tons of seed too!

I've got some saved seed, I can send if you like. PM me if you want some.  :)

Florence fennel is not winter hardy, while the herb is a hardy perennial, so for seeds it's much easier to use the herb.
