Title: A present from Psycho
Post by: Squash64 on May 04, 2011, 15:29:55
As soon as I parked my car this morning Psycho came running over to me....with a dead mouse in her mouth.  She dropped it at my feet and although I did feel sorry for the mouse I also felt quite proud that she'd brought it to me.

I went on my plot and a few minutes later she ran over, with the same mouse in her mouth again.

Of course, I had to take some photos...

No, but I think Psycho might have.  ;)

Oh she is 'feeding' you?  Well that is a definite sign of great affection.  Much as we might hate these kind of  'presents'.

I think you are her most favourite person in the world, she just needs to work on how she delivers her affections to you  ;D

She might struggle to express it, but she does know who her friends are.

It's a shame that she was born a feral cat because if she had had a 'normal' kittenhood she might have learned how to behave with people.  I know she does like me, she can't keep away from me and she even follows me if I go to my neighbours' plots.  It's just the swiping at my legs that I find a bit offputting.

We had an indoor cat, sadly deceased now, but when we were on holidays she often went out hunting, despite being never outdoors and often we found mice heads on the doorstep (gross!!). She was also the only cat I have ever heard of to catch small bats, that came too close to the balcony. I found one dead in the bathtub one day!
Apparently it is common feline behavior and you should praise her for it (and maybe discreetly leave the prey over in  a corner, in an "I'll eat that later" move!!). She is showing you how good a hunter she is, and so holds you in great esteem :) :)

When I was in student share housing, we had a lovely tabby, inappropriately called Fanny! She was also a good hunter especially of rodents, However my house mate was less than impressed when she stepped out of her bedroom one morning straight onto a dead river rat, about a foot long!  I rarely heard anyone scream like that! The cat couldn't understand what was going on but seemed pleased that the rat caused so much fuss, which is maybe complimentary in cat terms! She was given away to a farm when the household broke up and I like to think she spent many long years chasing the mice in the feed shed!
