Title: Forum section for committees
Post by: arunginny on February 06, 2011, 18:18:59
Hi All
Could i request that a new forum section is added for allotment committee messages, I think splitting those posts out to a new section would help committee members understand allotment management issues and help other members on committees, it would highlight where good and bad practices used on allotments and enable sharing of ideas of hosw to improve sites etc this might help improve allotments sites and standards across the uk?

I think it would be a good idea, gives a chance for management type issues to be grouped together. Having been to the NSALG training day yesterday, makes you realise there is so much information out there if you know where to look. As we are nearly all volunteers often with little or no previous experence it could be a great help.

Before we go any further -I've e-mailed NSALG rep to check out if it's ok with them to keep sending on the copy-just felt it's polite (Tonybloke's aware)  :-[ :-[ :-[ should have thought of this earlier

This would be a good section for folks who are just taking on responsibilities on ther allotments. A place to get the correct info about stuff.

I would love a copy of presentation if its allowed - had already pm'd tony before i read that bit.

I also think a section on management would be great -i've been coopted onto our committee relatively recently and have tried searching through the forum for ideas and hints already but it isn't that easy to find.

Please mods!

Would a new section be possible?

Hi Dan
If you dont consider this to be appropriate to this site would you mind if I set up a separate forum just for this purpose somewhere else and advertised where it is to committee members on here who wish to join?

There is a section called website suggestions- it may be worth starting thread on there which Dan might pick-up on

I think it's a VERY BAD idea, u lot getting your own section and blank us mere mortals and plot to take over the world, and we can't even have our own Spud section which will have about a million hits this season.    :P :P :P :P :P

We could have a Spud Section too. After all, chillies and sunflowers have got their own bit of the forum. Even pets and photos have their own slot. To say nothing of sheds. And even watersheds....

Another bump!

In view of the various discussions on self-management going on, there's a definite market for info.

I think in the present economic climate, a lot of Councils will be trying to get sites to go this way. (Or a lot of sites will be trying to go it alone!) I'm off to a meeting next week to start exploring this in our Borough. Should be interesting. And it would be good to have somewhere to point folk to.

There has been another thread on this issue in Website suggestions.
To anyone who has been following and replying to this thread please could you read my last post in there.
Can we then move forward and let this be closure?
Thanks Anne
