Title: Whos got/had Snow?
Post by: Garden Manager on December 20, 2004, 18:44:22
Ok who has in the last few days had snow and who has got some on the ground NOW?

Nothing here in deepest Dorset, though it was quite icy this morning - frost then rain: nasty!

Who thinks they'll have a white christmas?

Though it is some longer since there was an 'official' white christmas with proper snow on the ground, we woke up to snow here on christmas day only 11 years ago - got photos to prove it.

Richard, we had a wee bit snow on Friday, and on Saturday it was like a blizzard! It is still around (about and inch or so) and there are spectacular icicles hanging from the roof!

Not a single flake in Scotland yet - least none in my part!! Saw that the Petland Hills were covered in the white stuff last week-end so maybe it'll be a white Christmas for us!! ;D

No snow here yet, but then we don't usually get much in Surrey. Too darned cold at the moment!

Metcheck are currently forecasting a 50% chance of snow on Xmas Day though! Fabbo.

We had a quick sprinkling of snow yesterday - very cold all day.

Much warmer today - about 4 degres!

Cheers

Dan

We haven't had any snow in my part of Essex/London since January/February. Then it was only an inch for a day or two.

I haven't seen a white Christmas since I was about 6. Although there was a bit of snow further out into the country (about an inch again) one Christmas morning when I was a teenager.

I doubt we'll have one this year.

Yesterday was a white morning, thick ground frost. Looked gorgeous, but I was already running late for work, so I couldn't get my camera out.

The snows gotten pretty close to me here. The hills to the north of us were reported to have snow yesterday, though none got down as far as Dorchester. The town Is in quite a sheltered 'pocket' in the hills, and never gets snow as bad as the surrounding country side (when it gets it at all that is).   I used to live out in the 'sticks' about 3 miles outside the town and could get snowed in, but when phoning freinds in town would be told there wasnt much snow there at all. Strange!
