Title: tomato's
Post by: shirley B on September 16, 2010, 13:16:46
I have a greenhouse full of lovely ripened tomato's,but, a few have bite marks in and there are mouse droppings on the leaves, there is no way can i eat them, thinking of peeling them and making soup etc.
has anyone else had this problem?.  shirleyb

Hi - i don't want you to think we are all ignoring you - but you have added this post in the 'pumpkin section'.  I would add it again to the greenhouse or even recipe section and you may get a better response.

On this subject though - i have been making lots of tommy soup - so i think your tom's would be ideal for this.  I googled an easy recipe (bbc good food).

Soup, ketchup or anything like that. They'll be fine.

I've not been troubled with mice, but I'm sure the tomatoes will be ok cooked. I've been making lots of pasata, following advice from fellow A4A's I've been roasting toms in the oven with onion and garlic before processing, Yum.

Whatever must you think of me!  firstly using wrong section and then not knowing where i had put it,
biggest senior moment yet, thankyou for the answers, and i did make up and freeze soup.

As i do not grow pumpkins i will get out of here and not return.    shirley b
