Title: Seeds sprouting, which are which
Post by: Alice C on September 10, 2010, 18:33:38
I planted turnip, raddish, land cress and beetroot in some seed trays and foolishly did't lable them in the belief I'd remember which were which. Some are now sprouting and some are not. Which ones will sprout first and what order will thie others sprout in?

You cant say for sure but radish probably first.  You should be able to tell them apart fairly quickly though radish and turnip will look very alike.

Beetroot look like this (http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3555/3462986362_6420143552.jpg?v=0)

Radish ..(http://allaboutsquarefootgardening.com/Radish-Seedling.JPG)

I'll stick my neck out here - turnip and radish both very quick, turnip a lighter green, beetroot next, reddish, and land cress.......takes forever if it germinates at all....

radish seed leaves are quite big and smooth. Turnip leaves are smaller and delicate and hairy
