Have lifted first earlies, onions and garlic so have got space to spare. Any recommendations for what could go in now ?

Quite a number of crops if you sow now, here's some for starters:

Kohl rabi
Swiss Chard
Rocket
Spinach
Lettuce
Chines Cabbage
