Title: Moving fruit trees
Post by: Poppy Mole on July 25, 2010, 09:14:59
I have an apple tree & a cherry tree, both planted 2 years ago ( the apple has fruit on this year), I would now like to move them, when is the best time to do this?

The only time to move trees is when the sap is down, November to February, that goes for any tree not just fruit trees. This is of course, in the UK or Northern Europe. Make sure when they are planted that the roots are well solidified (get as much earth as possible in around them and water well, not hosepipe but buckets of water to wash the soil in around them. Not when it's frosty.
